Isabel and Maddy and Their Babies At the end of March the House Rabbit Network received a call from Winchendon Animal Control that dozens of rabbits were seized from a home. HRN was asked to take in two mothers and a litter.Isabel was one of the mothers as well as Maddy. Together they were nursing a litter of 6 two and a half week old babies. There was now way of telling who was the mother so together they all went to a foster home. The babies and their moms were growing healthier every day. Their diet at the place they were taken at consisted of bread and potatoes. Now they can’t get enough of hay and greens. The babies were named Penny, Pikachu, Madison, Franklin, Jackson, Monroe. Because Isabel and Maddy were nursing such young babies we couldn’t spay them. Not too long after arriving at their foster home Isabel and Maddy both had more babies. Isabel had 3 babies and were named Brownie, Hobbs, and Rasta. Isabel loves Brownie so much that they are being adopted now as a pair. Maddy, unfortunately, did not have as healthy babies. With a large litter of 8 and the unhealthy conditions of her pregnancy, only 5 survived. The 5 are now very healthy and wonderful. They are Chip, Buttercup, Griffin, Quagmire, and Ziggy. After their babies were all weaned, attention could finally be given to Isabel and Maddy. They are both Jersey Wooleys with a lot of hair. They came to us with matted hair that was so bad that it had to be shaved while they were under anesthesia. They were also spayed. It’s time to give everyone a forever home. Please consider adopting Isabel, Maddy or one of their babies. |
