Olivia

Dear Foster Parents & Friends…

I wanted to write and update you on my life. I am Lil’ Olivia and I was adopted two years ago. My life is quite different now.

I arrived at my new home in April of 2003. I instantly received a room of my very own. I was very nervous and skittish at first. I growled and bit people, but only because I was scared and not sure of what this new environment would bring. Misty, the family’s black lab was very curious about me. We would sniff each other through the gate in the room doorway. I often scanned the room and was easily scared. It took a long time (9 months) before I trusted that I would be okay. I know it was very trying for my new family, but they stuck it out with me. They learned it helped if they talked to me as they were approaching so I would not be so frightened.

In the Fall I began going on dates. I met Cocoa, a friendly brown Holland Lop. We had several dates, some good, some not so good. After a few months of that, we all moved into a new home together.

After about two weeks of living together full time, and taking turns in and out of our cages, we decided to become buds. I have enclosed some pictures of us. We are nearly always together, we snuggle a lot and I lie over his shoulders quite often.

Cocoa is a seven year old very friendly outgoing bun. He likes to lounge in the sun. He has taught me new things, like chewing through the plastic baby gates! He doesn't appreciate it very much that I can fit through the holes we chew before he can!

I am always finding things to keep me busy. I am curious and like to check everything out. One of my favorite things to do is to dig in the big cardboard boxes that my family brings home for me.

I wanted to thank you for taking such good care of me while I was waiting to be adopted. I am a very happy bun now!

Love,
Lil’ Olivia
