HRN Volunteer Meeting Minutes, 10/18/09

Items Discussed

Adoptions: 154 adoptions so far this year. We have 17 fosterhomes -- extending to Plymouth, NH and possibly Burlington, VT. 95% of our adoptions come from the web. January 1st 2010, we intend to raise adoption rates slightly. 11 bunnies are on the intake waitlist right now :-(

Membership: 100-110 members; many don't renew.

Newsletter: The newsletter is doing great but, as always, in need of articles. Each newsletter we try to fill 3 categories of article: (1) touchie-feelie, (1) behavioral, and (1) medical.

Education Events: We have had 28 this year. Diane is the coordinator.

Fundraisers:

• the calendar is the only one we have going on right now.
• Flatbread the best night ever. We took in $3700. $579 was from Pizza sales.
• The Shaw's program has not been doing well for us (that is the registered shopping card - shopping midweek for donation program)

We would like to do Giggles again. We need to do more flyers this time around. End of March on a Sunday is a likely time for the event -- in order to avoid school breaks. Jillian will be organizing Giggles again. It is approximately a $750 investment. Emily plans to get the cottontail cottages from Cats Rabbits and More to sell at Giggles.

Petfinder: Shannon is in charge of Petfinder. Does anyone want to take over Pets 911? It would be a good place for us to get a presence.

HRN Anniversary party! 10th year! We need to have people on the planning committee. So far, Diane Mayer has volunteered to head the planning committee. She needs ideas. It may be a benefit dinner -- but ticket price is a concern. Jillian will be looking into the Knights of Columbus in Lawrence as a venue. She may get a discount there. Should it be catered?
