Discussion

Adoptions: 141 adoptions in 2006

Membership: There are currently 110 members, which brought in $7,000 for the year. Memberships run April through March and include the newsletter, and volunteers are encouraged to join. Andy Hoell has volunteered to manage the membership list.

Board: Remains the same (Suzanne, Shannon, Diane)

Ed. Days: We did 43 last year. More help is always needed, especially during the pre-Easter season.

Newsletter: Articles should be sent to Maysoon and Rachel. Shannon continues to handle production duties.

Web Site: Articles can be used by anyone as long as they’re not changed and HRN is credited. Erica suggested updating the babies page with some of the new litters. More people are needed to post to the blog. Liz would like some help maintaining the blog, and Erica agreed to help.

E-mail Lists: There are three lists: HRNVol, chat and announcements. New adopters should be encouraged to sign up for the announcements list as a way of keeping them involved.

Press Releases: Rachel has been handling press releases, doing approximately one per month. Local papers have been printing them.

Hotline: Rachel has offered to help.

Treasurer: A permanent treasurer is needed since Suzanne can’t continue to handle the duties as she has been doing. Liz Orenstein said she can cover duties temporarily.

Bunsitting: No total is available, but it usually brings in $2,000 per year. Shannon is the coordinator and more sitters are always needed since we get more requests than we can handle. Volunteers are occasionally needed to provide free sitting for foster homes.

Grant Writing: Liz Orenstein will handle grants.

Yard Sale: Erica will handle this again, sometime in the spring. Last year’s made about $1300.

Flatbread: Someone other than Suzanne is needed to take charge. Tricia will come up with instructions and suggestions for soliciting donations. HRN took in over $2000 at last year’s event.

Whole Foods: Whole Foods will donate 5% of a day’s proceeds to a non-profit. Shannon will put in an application for 2008 since 2007 is already booked.

Fitchburg Rabbits: HRN took in 34 from the Fitchburg rescue. Six could be pregnant. Sweet Binks, 3 Bunnies and Hopalong Hollow are helping, and the Bunderground Railroad has put the word out. A press release was sent out Friday. We need more ways to publicize the need for adoptions.

Petco: Continue calling stores and writing letters to corporate. Hard copy letters are the most effective. Tricia will post addresses again.
