Meeting Minutes Oct 28, 2007

Items Discussed

  • Adoptions To date we have had 105 adoptions. We are behind last year's pace.
  • Foster Homes We currently have eleven foster homes, including VCA Wakefield. Quincy will be closing by the end of Feburary.
  • Fundraisers
    • Huge thanks to everyone who helped with the Flatbread benefit! We raised $2779 for the rabbits. We need ideas for donations for next year's benefit.
    • Calendars are now available. Thanks to Kathy, Shannon, Tricia and Tommy for their work on this year's.
    • We discussed having a walk around Horn Pond or a benefit at Ben and Jerry's next year
    • Carol, Shannon will look into Whole Foods
    • Any one interested in hosting the next yard sale?
  • Advertising If anyone has ideas to promote HRN, please let us know! We would like to run a campaign promoting rabbits and other animals for adoption.
  • Pets911 We discussed starting to display our rabbits on Pets911 again. Nicole will be setting this up for her. Shannon currently posts our buns on Petfinder.
  • Positions We are working on a listing of official positions for HRN. This will help clarify needed jobs and responsibilities.
  • Treasury Report Stephanie reported we have pulled in $22k this year (not counting the $5k deposited on Saturday) and have had $9k in expenses so far. Almost all of the expenses are vet bills.
  • Web Site
    • We are approaching 900k page hits on our web site. We also have a volunteers web site where we keep rabbit information and a volunteers list.
    • We are experimenting with google ads on our web site. We can control which types of ads are displayed.
    • The private site isn't updated as frequently, if you notice a problem or you are missing from the volunteer's list, just email Suzanne
  • Newsletter Shannon, Tricia and Tommy did a great job getting the last newsletter out in time for Flatbread. We need articles for the next newsletter, due by Jan 1.
  • Blog Everyone is encouraged to blog about the foster buns! It is making a difference in adoptions. Liz, Matt, Emily, Tricia and Tommy have admin privileges on the blog. Contact them if you need help.
  • Bun Sitting Shannon is the bun sitting coordinator. We can always use more homes willing to bun sit- it has been a good fund raiser for us, raising over $2/yr.
  • Education Diane reports that the Boston Vegetarian Festival was a success. She has had trouble getting people to sign up for events.
  • Hotline We have a good group of people on the hotline right now. Things are going well.
  • Goodsearch Don't forget to use Goodsearch! Go to www.goodsearch.com, choose HRN for your charity, and every search earns HRN a penny. It all adds up for the buns!
