This month, we’re not spotlighting just one person. Instead, we’re honoring the entire lifeblood of House Rabbit Network: our volunteers. As HRN celebrates 25 years of rabbit rescue, we know one truth above all—we would not exist without our volunteers. From our founding to today, every bunny saved, every adoption made, every outreach event hosted, every hotline call answered has happened because a volunteer stepped up.
HRN was founded by a volunteer. Suzanne, our founder, saw a need and took action. She didn’t wait for someone else to do it—she became the someone. And that spirit lives on in every member of our community. Our Board of Directors? All volunteers. The committees and teams that keep us moving forward? Run entirely by volunteers. Every shift at the shelter, every transport, every adoption follow-up, every social media post—it’s all done by people giving their time, heart, and energy to help bunnies.
We are a powerhouse of volunteers. Our Adoption Counselors send bunnies into loving homes. The Hotline Team answers urgent questions from bunny parents in need, processes adoption applications, helps new bunny owners navigate life with their new friend, and much, much more. Our events team brings HRN out into the world, while our Bunsitting and Bonding Coordinators make sure bunnies are safe, loved, and never alone. The Foster Team (including dozens of amazing foster homes!) cares for rabbits as they await forever families. The Tech Team keeps our systems running and our data clean. The Spa Day Team pampers rabbits and educates their families. The Outreach and Education Team spreads awareness. Our Auction Team brings in crucial funds—all run by volunteers. Our Shelter Volunteers care for every rabbit in our shelter with love and attention, making sure they feel safe, healthy, and valued while they await their forever homes.
Every time a bunny hops into a better life, a volunteer helped make it happen. This network is not powered by money or titles—it is powered by people who care. People like you.
To every volunteer who has ever answered the call: thank you. You are the reason HRN is here, and you are the reason we will continue to grow and thrive for the next 25 years and beyond. This month we celebrated our 25th Anniversary, gathering with our network of volunteers. We are so lucky to have such a bunderful team dedicated to HRN and our mission.
